The Faculty of Law is the oldest faculty of law in the Nordic countries and existed already when Uppsala University was founded in 1477.


The activities at the faculty embrace a wide range of research areas and specializations. At the faculty there is also an expanded undergraduate education with a high reputation. 


The Faculty has one department: the Department of Law. In total over 200 people work at the department, of which over 100 are scholars and teachers. In addition there are about 50 doctoral students and approximately 20 administrators. They all operate from centrally located premises.
