New LL.M. Program in International Dispute Resolution

Fordham Law School has established a new Master of Laws degree program in International Dispute Resolution. The new program offers students the opportunity to explore in depth the various ways in which international disputes are resolved, through both traditional litigation and alternative methods of dispute resolution.

With alternative dispute resolution mechanisms becoming an increasingly popular method of resolving disputes between parties in public and private international law, the new program has been designed to allow students the opportunity to gain an advanced understanding of the various options for the adjudication of disputes. Students will study these options from both a theoretical and practical perspective. In particular, students will examine how these methods of dispute resolution are played out in the international arena, while simultaneously offering them a grounding in the complexities of the U.S. litigation model. Like all of Fordham’s Master of Laws programs, the LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution will qualify students to sit for the New York State bar examination.

Fordham Law School has launched a new LL.M. degree in Corporate Compliance, which will begin in Fall 2014. Believed to be the first Master of Laws program in the United States to focus on compliance, the program will present one of the world’s most robust curricular offerings in this rapidly expanding field.

The new degree is structured primarily for domestic attorneys seeking to work in the field of international corporate compliance, international lawyers who work in the corporate area, and academics whose scholarly interests are in the compliance field.  All students in the program must complete a minimum of 24 credits in approved courses. The degree builds on the strength of the existing LL.M. programs at Fordham, where more than 1,600 students from some 100 countries have completed a Master of Laws degree since 1989.
