    Living on London campus

One of the most striking things about Queen Mary is our campus. It’s the largest self-contained student campus in central London, and only 15 minutes by tube from the Oxford Street, Covent Garden and the rest of the West End. It’s very unusual for a London University – in fact we’re the only college in the University of London who can offer students a central site containing cafes, bar, restaurants, accommodation, gym, a student shop, bookshop, cashpoint and laundrette all on one central site.

You have all the advantages of living in the capital city as well as being part of a sociable and safe student village. There’s 24 hour security on campus and all student flats have entryphones. You may have the tower of London on your doorstep, but at Mile End, you are surrounded by familiar faces.

Sports and culture on London campus

Taking part in sport at university is a great way to keep fit, make friends and generally have a good time. Queen Mary Students’ Union has over 40 sports clubs ranging from Aikido to Hockey, Fencing to Rowing.

The Students’ Union has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment, so in addition to the sports hall and squash court, there’s a brand new Health and Fitness Centre, QMotion. QMotion is home to a whole range of gym equipment including a cardiovascular zone, a resistance zone, and free weights.

London is a city rich in culture, and east London is no exception. In fact it’s one of the best areas for art galleries, small theatre venues and some interesting museums. Galleries very close to Queen Mary include the Whitechapel, the White Cube, Matt’s Gallery and the Wapping project.

    Meet our students

    Takahiro Yamada, Japan

"The interactive classes allow students not only to confirm their understanding but also to develop their analysis of the law. [...] Studying in London with friends from various backgrounds adds cultural depth to student life. Every week after classes, we head to a restaurant offering food from each of our home countries, in turn, and then move on to a pub."

    Rita Lugoloobi Zabali, Uganda

    LLM IN TAX LAW, 2010-11

"I have enjoyed studying with tax professionals from diverse backgrounds which created a dynamic and interactive study environment and made it easier for International students to fit in. I have also found the Queen Mary staff to be friendly and committed to ensuring that all students enjoy their experience at the University."

    Diana Kull, Estonia

"I was attracted by the outstanding reputation of the Law School and the CCLS in the area of banking and financial law, the variety of specialised courses, and the highly professional academic staff. The knowledge and skills acquired in this specialised programme will definitely enhance my career perspectives."

    Cem Arsiray, Germany

"The very international and highly motivated student community and the direct contact to the teaching staff made it possible to experience an extremely valuable academic discourse. Being in London also had a share in this. We had also access to the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, which is the best law library I have ever seen."

    Athikarn Bell Dilogwathana, Thailand

"Besides the academic aspects, I have found that studying in QMUL has given me an opportunity to build a great social network, as the programme provide us a lot of social events throughout the year. Even though the LLM students here are from amazing different backgrounds, we all are able to both play and study hard together throughout the whole year"
