Until recently, the GPTO accepted PPH-requests only when they were based on earlier applications prosecuted by the SIPO, the JPO, the UKIPO, the USPTO, the KIPO, the CIPO, the Finnish Patent Office, the Singapore Patent Office or the Austrian Patent Office.
On 6 July 2015, the GPTO joined the Global Patent Prosecution Highway. The GPTO’s PPH network is thereby extended to twelve additional patent offices, namely the Australian, Danish, Russian, Hungarian, Spanish, Swedish, Portuguese, Estonian, Israeli, Norwegian, Islandic and Nordic patent offices.
