Online LL.M. in Elder Law

Admissions

Applicants for admission to the LL.M. program in Elder Law must:

  • have a strong interest in elder law or experience working in elder law or related fields is helpful but not required
  • be proficient in the English language
  • hold a law degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, or hold a first law degree from a foreign law school approved by the appropriate authority in that country.

Students in the Elder Law LL.M. program will complete these required courses:

  • Aging and the Law
  • Long-Term Care Planning
  • Estate and Gift Tax Planning for the Elder Law Client
  • Ethics in the Practice of Elder Law
  • Guardianship and Alternatives
  • Retirement Planning
  • Select Topics in Elder Law

Students must take six credit hours of electives and may choose from the following courses:

  • Tax for Elder Law Attorneys
  • Disability Law
  • Government and Private Health Benefits
  • Issues in Elder Law Advocacy
  • Law, Aging and Mental Health
  • Veterans' Benefits
