LL.M. in Sports Law (for foreign lawyers)

Admission

Eligibility:

  • Foreign Legal Education: A candidate for the LL.M. degree in Sports Law must hold a bachelor of laws degree (LL.B.) or comparable first degree in law from a non-U.S. law school, college or university that is approved or licensed by the appropriate government entity or accreditation body in the country or region where the institution is located. The program is for foreign-educated attorneys only.
  • English Language Proficiency: Candidates will be required to present proof of English-language proficiency if the LL.B. was earned in a country where English is not the primary language and/or English was not the primary language of instruction for the candidate's previous legal education. TOEFL required score is 100 on the internet-based TOEFL (ibT) rather than the 600 on the paper-based TOEFL.

  • Present official transcripts of previous legal studies
  • Present proof of English-language proficiency
  • Comply to the deadline: March 1
  • A letter of recommandation is encouraged but not compulsory.

  • Professional Sports Law
  • Amateur Sports Law
  • Two elective courses selected from: Sports Venues, Amateur Sports Law Workshop, Representing Professional Athletes and Coaches Workshop

Students also must take 6 credits of elective courses from the Law School's Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Business and Commercial Law, Employment Law, Intellectual Property Law and/or International Law course streams, although other Law School courses may be taken with prior approval.
