LLM in International Trade, Transport and Maritime Law

Course Structure

You can either take:

eight taught modules and a research essay or six taught modules and a dissertation. Common to both structures is the core module Legal Research Methodology,

Core modules:

  • International Carriage of Goods by Sea Law
  • World Trade: Law and Policy
  • Legal Research Methodology

Designate modules include:

  • Principles of International Insurance Law
  • International Sale of Goods Law
  • Admiralty Law
  • Law of International Insurance Contracts
  • Law of International Commercial Arbitration

Optional modules include:

  • Competition Law
  • Company Law and Corporate Governance
  • Law and Regulation of Financial Markets
  • Comparative Law of Financial Crime
  • Comparative Trademarks Law
  • Management of Intellectual Property Rights
  • Law of International Banking and Finance
  • Private International Law

Entry Requirements

A successful applicant will normally be required to have:

  • A UK or overseas degree in law of at least lower second-class or its equivalent. 
  • Alternatively, a non-law degree plus a professional legal qualification.
  • Holders of the PG Diploma in Maritime Law (distance learning) awarded by this University will obtain 120 credits towards this specific LLM.

All applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Applicants who require a Tier 4 student visa may need to provide a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS. For more information about English qualifications please click here.
