LLM in International Family and Child Law

Entry Requirements

A successful applicant will normally be required to have:

An undergraduate degree of at least lower second grade in a relevant discipline; candidates with other qualifications and/or relevant vocational experience may also be considered.

All applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Applicants who require a Tier 4 student visa may need to provide a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS. For more information about English qualifications please click here.

Course Structure


This course comprises six taught modules plus a triple-module dissertation

Core Modules

  • Legal Research Methodology
  • Family Law in an International Context
  • Principles of Private International Law
  • Women and Gender and Human Rights

Optional Modules include

  • Human Rights and Refugee Law
  • International Child Law and Human Rights
  • International Legal Institutions
  • International Regulation of Conflict

You are required to produce a dissertation of 15,000 words to be submitted at the end of the course
