Admission

LL.M. applicants must submit:


  • Application Form:  Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply through the online Law School Admission Council (LSAC) Document  Assembly Service.
  • Application Fee: $75, waived if using the LSAC LL.M. Document Assembly Service.
  • Official Transcripts: Applicants must submit official transcripts from each institution of higher learning (university or college) previously attended. Transcripts should be in both the native language of the institution and in English. Transcripts should also include an explanation of the university’s grading system. LSAC’s LL.M. International Transcript Authentication and Evaluation Service is preferred.
  • Proof of English Proficiency: Applicants are required to earn a minimum paper based score of 600 or an internet based score of 100 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of 7.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is also accepted.
  • Resume (Curriculum Vitae).
  • Personal Statement: A one to two page personal statement explaining your reasons for pursuing an LL.M. degree as well as your future plans and goals. In addition, applicants should describe what course of study they are interested in pursuing and how Wake Forest Law can assist them in achieving these goals.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Applicants are required to submit a minimum of two letters of recommendation. Ideally, these letters should come from former law professors or employers of the applicant and should address the applicant’s ability to pursue graduate legal study. Recommendation letters must be in English or accompanied by an English translation. Please provide your references with the Letter of Recommendation Information and Waiver Form found here. Applicants may submit Letters of Recommendation directly to the school, if in a sealed envelope and signed across the seal.
  • Financial Documentation: All applicants must provide documentation certifying adequate financial resources to pay for tuition, books, and living expenses. Financial documentation consists of two parts: Official Bank Statements, and Sponsorship Letter(s).
  • Scholarships and documentation of financial resources: Wake Forest Law offers a limited number of merit based scholarships for international applicants.
  • Deadline for submitting application: Candidates should submit  their application and supporting materials as soon as possible. Applications for fall 2015 are available through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) Document Assembly Service starting September 1st and will continue through April 30th, 2015. 
  • Certification Letter: If you choose to submit your application to the LL.M. Program as an email attachment to [email protected], you must print out, sign, and include a signed certification letter with the other application materials that you will mail to the WFU Law School. This letter provide us with your signature certifying that the information you provided is accurate.

The LL.M. degree program requires students to successfully complete 24 credit hours of coursework, and earn a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
