LL.M. for the Practice of Law in the United States

Curriculum

Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School joins the growing number of United States-based law schools offering LL.M. degrees for foreign-educated attorneys. Our LL.M. for the Practice of Law in the United States: Offers an intensive two-semester program designed to educate foreign-trained attorneys in American law, Individual academic advisors to afford adequate support in the transition to American legal study, affords foreign-educated attorneys the opportunity to develop a strong professional network, brings students to Atlanta , one of America’s most vibrant, diverse and innovative cities, offering you unique educational and cultural experiences. Students will be enrolled in J.D. courses Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.

 

The LL.M. for the Practice of Law in the United States is a 26 credit hour residential program that can be completed over the course of two semesters.  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for Fall entry.

Application Deadlines:

There are no set deadlines for LL.M. for the Practice of Law in the United States.  Review of applications and admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis.  

 

Application Methods:

To apply to the LL.M. for the Practice of Law in the United States program, please visit LSAC (Law School Admissions Council). 

 

Application Materials Checklist:

·       Application form


·       CV/ Resume


·       A personal statement addressing why you feel you will be able to successfully complete the LL.M. Program.


·       Official Law School Transcript


·       Two Letters of Recommendation.  One of which must be from a professional reference.


·       $30 Application Fee

The Admission Requirement for LL.M. for the Practice of Law in the United States are J.D. equivalent and/or eligibility to practice law in home country if you are not planning on taking the Georgia Bar.  If you are planning on applying to take the Georgia Bar you are required to have both a legal education and authorization to practice in the foreign county.
