Admission

1. Online Application: Application Form and Fee

Submit your application using York University's Graduate Studies online application. A non-refundable application fee of $100 CAD is required.

2. Transcripts

Provide TWO sets of OFFICIAL transcripts, from every post-secondary institution attended, where a grade was received for course(s) completed. Transcripts must come directly from, and bear the seal of, the issuing institution. Note that if your transcript does not say “Degree Conferred”, you must submit a Degree Certificate or other proof of completion from your issuing institution.

  • Photocopied or faxed transcripts are not acceptable.
  • If transcripts (or other supporting material) are in a foreign language, an official translation is required. Notarized translations are not acceptable. Only certified translations will be processed.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure timely submission of transcripts.
  • Transcripts are considered official when sent directly from the issuing institution(s) in unopened, sealed envelopes. In some instances, the issuing institution(s) may mail the transcripts to you in unopened, sealed envelopes to submit with your application package. This is acceptable for the graduate application process and transcripts will be considered official. Opened envelopes will be considered unofficial.
  • Transcripts from other credential evaluation services are not considered official and thus not accepted.

3. Recommendation Forms

As part of your LLM application, you must provide TWO RECOMMENDATIONS from referees who can assess your potential to complete the LLM successfully. Download the Recommendation Form.

4. Résumé

5. Personal Statement

Please submit a personal statement (maximum 500 words in length) addressing your reasons for wanting to enroll in the program and how your past studies and related professional experience have prepared you for the program.

6. Supplementary Form

You must complete and submit our Supplementary Form.

7. Writing Sample

Applicants without a Canadian LLB/JD are required to submit a writing sample which best demonstrates their academic ability.
